The one-cable desk: why my workspace has exactly one wire
There is a special kind of peace that comes from looking at a desk and seeing exactly one cable. Not three artfully hidden ones. One.
The setup philosophy
The rule I gave myself was simple: everything must disappear except the work. One USB-C cable from the laptop to the dock handles power, display, audio and peripherals. Everything else lives under the desk, velcroed and labeled, where I never have to think about it again.
What it actually changed
I expected the clean desk to be an aesthetic win. What surprised me was the behavioral one. Sitting down at a zero-friction workspace removes the tiny excuses my brain generates before deep work. Open laptop, click cable, working. No untangling, no "where's my charger," no visual noise.
Minimalism isn't about owning less
It's about deciding once. Every object on my desk earned its place, and everything else got a home that isn't my field of vision. That single decision — made once, months ago — pays me back in focus every single day.
I'll do a full gear breakdown (with the exact dock, monitor arm and the rest) on the gear page — and a desk tour video is coming to the channel soon.
